From September 5th – September 14th rodders traveled from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to Cincinnati, through Eastern Ohio, and into Michigan for the NSRA Nationals North Plus in Kalamazoo. Description

The Hoodliner is a Polyether Urethane Based with a Reinforced Aluminized Facing and Pressure Sensitive Adhesive on application side, thermo-acoustic foam. This product is made to be applied inside the automotive engine compartment to the underside of the hood. Product shall be die cut to shape and placed onto the underhood surface. Adhesive side is smooth, giving complete contact with the underlying surface without any air pockets of channels. Both material and adhesive can withstand temperature ranges between -40°C to +107°C (-40°F to +225°F).

Acoustic Properties

The effectiveness of an acoustical foam is dependent on its ability to convert soundwaves into heat energy. Hoodliner has a combination of open and closed cells to accept sound waves and dissipate them. If all of the foam cells were open, sound waves would simply pass through. Conversely, if all of the foam cells were closed, few sound waves would be absorbed. The acoustic foam in Hoodliner is cast in sheets, achieving consistent resistivity levels throughout the foam. Thus, maximum sound absorption is assured.

Heat Resistive Properties

Hoodliner has a reinforced aluminized facing which provides 97% heat reflection. This reflection reduces heat transfer to the hood and reduces wear to the painted surfaces.

Applications

Hoodliner is used as an automotive engine compartment treatment. It is also used in other applications requiring heat resistive acoustical foams.

Installation

Hoodliner should be cut to the desired size and shape before the release liner is removed. It may be cut with scissors, knife, or die. Remove dust, grease, moisture, and other foreign matter from the application surface. Peel off the release liner. The simplest application technique is to bend the Hoodliner slightly and attach it along its shortest edge.

Description

Dynaplate is a light-weight aluminum constrained-layer vibrational damper. Dynaplate conforms with effort to sheet metal and other hard substrates. Material performance is optimized for temperature ranges between -10°C to +60°C (14°F to+140°F) Material can withstand temperature extremes between -54°C to +170°C (-65°F to +350°F) and is highly resistant to aging.

Acoustic Properties

The acoustic loss factor “n” is used as a measure of ability to damp structure-borne sound. It states how much vibrational energy (in steel sheets for instance) is converted to heat rather than sound. For constructions containing several layers of damping material, the combined loss factor “n comb” is used. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1 (no vibration). An undamped 1mm thick steel panel has a loss factor of roughly 0.001 at 200 Hz. Dynaplate applied to that panel would increase the loss factor to 0.17 @ +20°C (+68°F) Multiple layers of Dynaplate can be used for significant improvement of sound damping.

Applications

Dynaplate can be die cut to shape and placed onto the body surface after sheet metal cleaning operation and prior to paint system (typically at the sealer application operation) or on painted panels. Dynaplate is used as treatment for metal panels, partitions, ducts, doors, bins, panels etc. in railroad cars, buses, automobiles and ships. It is also used for ventilation ducts, relay cabinets, steel furniture, home appliances, sink units, computer equipment and machine tools and for many other purposes.

Installation

Dynaplate should be cut to the desired size before the release liner is removed. It may be cut with scissors, knife or die. Remove dust, grease, moisture, and other foreign matter from the application surface. Peel off the release liner. The simplest application technique is to bend the mat slightly and attach it along its shortest edge. The mat is then pressed firmly into place, preferable with a roller for larger pieces. This reduces the risk of leaving air pockets, which reduce the sound damping capacity. The temperature of Dynaplate and application surface should not be below room temperature during fitting. Heating the material is not necessary.

Step 1: Prep the Surface

Clean the mounting surface with a quick-drying, residue-free solvent. Remove all dirt, grease, oil, wax, moisture and rust to ensure a permanent bond between the Dynamat and the mounting surface.

Step 2: Size and Cut

Using a razor knife or scissors, cut the Dynamat sheet to the desired shape and size (you may find a cardboard or paper template helpful.) Remove the release liner from the back of the Dynamat and apply the Dynamat to the prepared surface. On large surfaces, remove the release liner in sections, working your way down and across the panel.

Step 3: Apply the material

Apply the Dynamat to the mounting surface with a Dynamat roller tool. Take the roller tool and work the Dynamat into all contours of the metal panel. Using a razor knife, poke holes in any air pockets that may have formed between the panel and the Dynamat. Work the air out with the roller tool. Eliminating air pockets ensures lasting adhesion to the panel to give maximum damping effect.

Lords of the Car Hoards features veteran car builder and Hot Rod Guru Rick Dore teaming up with former WWE Superstar Chuck Palumbo to find individuals with hoards of unrestored vehicles. Dore, Palumbo, and the vehicle owner then select one car from the hoard to restore, and use the rest of the hoard for parts to use in the restoration, or sell them to finance the build.
