Description:
DynaSpray is a unique liquid sound control product that performs like a resonance and vibration control material. Its 5-in-1 formula is optimized for use as a Sound Deadener, Undercoat, Gravel Guard, Rust Protector and Thermal Shield. Dynashield is a waterborne visco- elastic polymer compound that sprays on for a "high build," drying to a smooth, flat black finish to give a cosmetically integrated look either inside or outside the vehicle.
Acoustic Properties:
The acoustic loss factor "n" is used as a measure of a material's ability to damp structure-borne sound by stating how much vibrational energy (in steel sheets for instance) is converted to heat rather than sound. For constructions containing several layers of damping material, the combined loss factor "n comb" is used. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1 (no vibration). An undamped 1mm thick steel panel has a loss factor of roughly 0.001 at 200 Hz. Damped with Dynashield, the loss factor would be about 0.063 at +0°C (32°F), 0.079 at +15°C, and 0.076 at +30°C. Multiple applications of Dynashield improve sound damping even more.
Applications:
Dynashield is a sprayable product for easy application in doors, corners, crevices and other hard-to-reach places, including the vehicle's undercarriage. Dynashield also works well on fiberglass enclosures to strengthen the whole enclosure.
Installation:
Before spraying, make sure the area to be covered is free of rust, dust, oil and any foreign material. The surface should be totally dry. Cover or mask off any adjacent areas that should not be sprayed. You can apply Dynashield with a brush, roller or compressed air gun (the DynaSpray Spray Gun item #10025 is recommended). Total thickness of the finished coating should be 1.5 to 2.0 mm or .050" to .125" (1/16" to 1/8"), approximately the thickness of a small coin. You may apply two to three coats; allow one hour between each coat. Dynashield forms a skin in 10 to 20 minutes, sets in one hour and is totally cured in 12 to 36 hours. Times vary according to ambient humidity and application thickness.
